What Squatch Found on the Inspection
The inspection on June 26, 2026 produced 29 photos. It started in the attic, where a gable-end fan and the board decking were photographed, then covered the roof surface, the skylights along the ridge, and the soffits. The inspector marked the problem spots in blue paint.
- Nail pops: nails backing out and breaking through the shingle surface, circled in paint in more than one place.
- Lifted shingle: one shingle lifted by hand to show its sealant strip and an exposed nail head underneath.
- Damaged spots: areas along the lower edge of the roof, near the gutters, outlined in paint.
- Existing anchors: the roof already had permanent D-ring anchors at the ridge.
- Skylights: a row of three skylights just below the ridge, with more elsewhere on the roof.
What It Meant and What We Recommended
Every finding on this roof was a specific, local problem: individual nails, one lifted shingle, marked spots at the edge. None of it was a roof-wide failure, and the shingle field between the marks was intact. That is what a tune-up is for. Squatch quoted three line items: a roof tune-up at the medium tier, CertainTeed Mountain Ridge cap shingles, and a zinc sulphate roof cleaning priced per square. No replacement was quoted. The homeowner approved the quote.
How the Project Was Completed
The crew did the work on July 17, 2026, and 36 photos document the day. The first set is close-ups of the shingle field taken during the tune-up, including one with a pry bar in the frame. The rest were taken after the zinc sulphate went on and walk the full roof: along the ridge, around each skylight, past the chimney, and down each slope.

The Finished Result
The completion photos show the ridge cap line continuous from end to end, the skylights and chimney with zinc sulphate spread around them, and powder down each slope. The white streaks are the treatment itself. It is not rinsed off; rain dissolves it over the following weeks.
